Teacher Training

Chatham Grammar welcomes enquiries from anyone looking to get into teaching.  There are many different routes and providers offering teacher training courses so if you are interested in training with us at Chatham Grammar, in the first instance then please contact Alex Kelly who can talk you through the different options and opportunities based on live availability and put you in touch with the right provider for your application. We are also happy to arrange visit days for you to come in and see the school in action before submitting your application.

Routes into teaching

Salaried route

If you interested in applying for teacher training, you could earn a salary while you train on a School Direct (salaried) programme. Salaries can vary depending on your chosen subject. Click here for more information.

Training partners

Chatham Grammar is a strategic partner in the Medway Valley Training Partnership which works as part of Kent and Medway Training (KMT) to provide outstanding school led teacher training. KMT manage, accredit and oversee the School Direct courses, not just for us but for over 40 schools throughout the region. All courses are available as either Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or with a full Post Graduate Certificate of Education (PGCE) top-up course which is led and validated by the University of Leeds Beckett.

e-Qualitas

Chatham Grammar is a strategic partner of e-Qualitas who work with schools nationally to recruit both salaried and un-salaried trainees across a range of subject areas.

Teach in Kent

We also work with Teach in Kent, a teacher training provider accredited by the TES institute. They offer school direct training in a variety of subjects with a PGCE top up option in addition to QTS.
