The Chatham Grammar House System
At CG we foster an ethos of equality, fairness and community and all students belong to one of the four CG Houses. The students have named the Houses after inspirational women and the chosen House names are Angelou, Kahlo, Seacole and Sharman. Each House has its own identity, mission statement and chosen charity. Students participate in House competitions and there is a healthy drive to achieve as many leadership points as possible.
Maya Angelou was an American poet, memoirist, and civil rights activist.

Frida Kahlo was a Mexican artist that challenged ideas of culture, physicality, and femininity.

Mary Seacole was a British-Jamaican nurse and businesswoman who set up the ‘British Hotel’ during the Crimean War to care for sick and wounded soldiers.

Helen Sharman became the first British Astronaut in May 1991, aged 27, when she launched on a Russian Soyuz spacecraft.
