These are the current results for students who completed Key Stage 4 in the summer of 2024, except where stated otherwise.

Exam Results 2023

Guidance from the DfE:  School and college performance data for the 2022/2023 academic year should be used with caution:

  •  In 2022/23, qualifications returned to pre-pandemic standards. Performance measures that are based on qualification results will reflect this, and cannot be directly compared to measures from 2021/2022.

  • There are ongoing impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, which affected individual schools, colleges and students differently.

Secondary

These are the final results for students who completed key stage 4 in the summer of 2023, except where stated otherwise.

Progress 8*

This score shows how much progress students have made between the end of key stage 2 and the end of key stage 4, compared to students across England who got similar results at the end of key stage 2. This is based on results in up to 8 qualifications, which include English, maths, 3 English Baccalaureate qualifications including sciences, computer science, history, geography and languages, and 3 other additional approved qualifications.  A score above zero means students made more progress, on average, than students across England who got similar results at the end of key stage 2.   A score below zero means students made less progress, on average, than students across England who got similar results at the end of key stage 2.  A negative progress score does not mean students made no progress, or the school has failed, rather it means students in the school made less progress than other students across England with similar results at the end of key stage 2.

Attainment 8**

Schools get a score based on how well students have performed in up to 8 qualifications, which include English, maths, 3 English Baccalaureate qualifications including sciences, computer science, history, geography and languages, and 3 other additional approved qualifications.  The grades are added together to come up with a point score.

16-18 (Sixth Form)

These are the final results for students who reached the end of their 16 to 18 phase of education in the 2022 to 2023 academic year except where stated otherwise.

*** Guidance from the DfE:  This data covers students who left 16 to 18 study in 2020/21 and follows their destinations in 2021/22. The following should be considered when using this data:

  • The make up of the cohort has changed this year compared to previous years. This change has particularly impacted students in state-funded mainstream colleges, who are more likely to spend more than two years in the same college. Caution should therefore be taken when comparing 16 to 18 destination measures between schools and colleges.

  • There was also no checking exercise for this cohort of students.

  • There are ongoing impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, which affected individual schools, colleges and pupils differently.
